APC Unveils APC–MS Series AC/DC Power Supplies
Advanced Power Conversion plc (Farnborough, England) introduced the new APC–MS Series of ac/dc switching power supplies, which can be matched to individual applications, eliminating long lead times for custom power solutions. The MS Series are suitable for use in applications such as multiple processor network applications, control and high-specification measurement, and audio/broadcast equipment
The APC-MS Series offers a two-transistor forward converter front-end that drives a planar magnetic main transformer, which then couples to a high-frequency magnetic amplifier in each of the modular output stages. There are five single-output modules to choose from ranging in output voltages from 1.45V to 28V. There are also two dual-output modules with each output individually isolated.
The APC-MS Series features 400W, 600W and 1,000W power output capability; up to 13 total outputs; six output modules spanning voltages from 1.45 to 58V; scaleable power levels to over 100A; a universal input within the range 88VA to 264VA (at 47Hz to 63Hz) or 150Vdc to 370Vdc; a four-slot package measuring 127mm x 270mm x 65mm that houses 400W and 600W with up to eight individual outputs; a six-slot package measuring 187mm x 270mm x 65mm that can provide up to 1,000W with up to 12 isolated outputs; integral cooling fans; line regulation to within ±0.1 percent; load regulation of ±1 percent for a 75 percent change in load demand; and comprehensive protection against over-voltage, over-current and over-temperature conditions.
The range has a full suite of international safety approvals, including IEC60950 and UL1950-3, and meets the EN61000-3-2 standard for harmonic current correction.
