Anderson Power Products Debuts PowerMod HP Connector

March 02, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

Anderson Power Products (APP, Sterling, MA), a leader in developing power interconnect solutions for backup power systems, electric vehicles, UPS systems, telecommunications, and high-technology device industries, debuted its new PowerMod®HP (high-power) connector family, which features touch-safe, female housings; integral positive latches; and cable strain relief.

The PowerMod HP connector is rated 125 A at a 30 °C temperature rise, and may be used in appropriate applications to 175 A. The product accommodates American wire sizes from #6 to #2 AWG, and metric wires from 16 mm to 35 mm. The connectors use APP’s patented Sterling contact technology that offers low electrical resistance, provides a minimum of 500 mating cycles, and are rated for circuit interruption (true hot-plug).

The unique latching system, with distinct blue buttons for clear identification, offers security and ergonomics. The connectors are IP 20 rated (touch-safe) for user safety, and the integral coding key provides further protection by allowing the user to configure unique mating of up to six individual connectors. A cable strain relief kit, which encompasses all applicable wire sizes, is available as a product option for additional reliability.

The PowerMod HP connectors are offered in 10 different connector housing types, including right-angle, bus bar, panel-mount and blind-mate/float selections, delivering broad design flexibility for current and future high-power interconnections.
