Ametherm Announces New PTC Thermistors

February 18, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Ametherm Inc. (Carson City, NV) announced its new positive temperature coefficient (PTC) thermistors, available to 1,000 V, for over-current and over-temperature protection. The PTC thermistors are thermally sensitive resistors made of poly-crystalline ceramic materials, and are normally used in over-current protection applications, such as motor starters and liquid-level sensing.

The new PTC thermistors feature continuous current to 3 A; a switching current as low as 100 mA; and a size up to 32 mm. Thermistors under 100 Ohms are available, and UL/CSA certification is currently in consideration. Samples require five working days, and production lead time is three weeks.
