American Power Conversion Announces the MX06-100 Power System

June 14, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

American Power Conversion (APC, West Kingston, RI) announced the MX06-100, a modular dc power system capable of supplying up to 105A at -48Vdc for wireless, customer-premise and distributed-network applications. APC reports that the new system is designed to grow with the user’s needs, allowing them to add power in 10A increments. Compatible with both 19in and 23in racks, the MX06-100 rack-mount system can include up to 10 fan-cooled rectifiers. An additional rectifier, beyond the power draw of the equipment, can be added to create redundancy in the system. Configurable options for power distribution include multiple fuse and circuit-breaker combinations, along with a controller.

“The convergence of phone and data services is requiring more power for traditionally smaller models,” said Ed Bednarcik, general manager of APC’s business networks group. “The new MX06-100 rounds out our comprehensive dc product offering to address those power and scalability issues of distribution network points, including remote terminals, distribution nodes and DSLAM applications, in addition to powering equipment at customer premise sites.”

APC’s new MX06-100 will be available in North America in the second quarter of 2001. It will debut in Europe in the third quarter of 2001, and in most other countries by the fourth quarter.
