Absopulse Unveils PFL800-110 PFC Power Supplies

November 17, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Absopulse Electronics Ltd. (Carp, Ontario, Canada) unveiled its PFL800-110, a recent addition to its line of 1U, rack-mount, power-factor-corrected (PFC) power supplies. The 800 W unit is intended for industrial and other heavy-duty applications where 110 Vdc is required.

The PFL800-110 employs half-bridge topology after the PFC input stage to deliver 110 Vdc at 7.27 A, and accepts inputs from 95 V to 264 Vac (47 Hz to 64 Hz). A battery float voltage of 127 Vdc is available for battery-charging applications. Higher output power or N+1 redundancy can be achieved with two or more stacked units.

The unit meets EN61000-3-2 requirements for low-input harmonic distortion mandated for European markets. The power factor is corrected to a minimum of 0.97 at full load over the entire input range. The unit is fan-cooled and rated for operation over 0 °C to 50 °C. Other options include 400 Hz input frequency and extended temperature ranges.

Rack-mount versions with 400 W and 600 W output power, as well as a 200 W unit in a 3.85 in x 1.25 in x 11 in enclosure, are also available. The PFL800-110 is priced at $756 for quantities of 25 to 99.
