Absopulse Intros FTT 6000-C Frequency Converters

Absopulse Electronics Ltd. (Carp, Ontario, Canada) introduced its FTT 6000-C, an addition to its line of three-phase to three-phase frequency converters. The 6 kVA unit was designed to provide frequency conversion between a 60 Hz utility line and 400 Hz aviation ground support equipment.

The FTT 6000-C converts a three-phase, 208 Vrms (line-to-line) input to a 120 Vrms (line-to-neutral) output at 400 Hz. The output phases are connected in a "Y" configuration with the neutral grounded. The frequency converter incorporates high-frequency, pulse-width modulated technology to synthesize a regulated sinusoidal waveform with less than 5% total harmonic distortion. The unit is fan-cooled and rated for operation at full power within a 0 °C to 50 °C temperature range. Extended temperature ranges as well as other input and output configurations are achievable with minor modifications to the design.

The FTT 6000-C frequency converter is housed in two stacked, enclosed chassis connected at the rear (one 6U x 19 in x 15 in and 3U x 19 in x 15 in). The structure makes for easy maneuverability. The entire system weighs approximately 30 kg. The FTT 6000-C is priced at $7,100 for quantities of one to four.
