Absopulse Introduces 200W, DC-DC Plug-In (Eurocard) Converter For 19" Rack-Mount Applications

April 02, 2008 by Jeff Shepard

Absopulse Electronics introduced the BAP 236R-EH series of rugged, plug-in (Eurocard) dc-dc converter designed for railway and other harsh-environments. This 200W unit utilizes field-proven topology to deliver any dc output up to 130Vdc. It can be operated from supply voltages of 24Vdc ((14.4–37V), 36Vdc (22–55V), 48Vdc (28V-74V), 72Vdc (42V-110V), 96Vdc or 110Vdc (57V-168V). Other inputs are available on request. A built-in redundancy diode allows for parallel connection to achieve higher output power or N+1 redundancy.

The BAP 236R-EH is designed to meet the requirements of EN 50155 for electronic equipment used on railway rolling stock. It also meets EN 55022 Class B EMI and EN 50121-3-2 (EMI and EMC). The series is rated for operation over a -25 to +70°C temperature range without derating, with natural convection cooling. It features full electronic protection on the input and output, an optocoupler alarm output and optional control input.

This compact plug-in module measures 3U x 14HP x 220mm and is typically used in 19" rack-mount applications. The BAP 236R-EH is heavily ruggedized and conformal coated and designed to meet IEC 61373 Categories 1 A & B shock and vibration standards.

The BAP 236R-EH is priced in the range of US$285 at quantities of 100.
