Absopulse Encapsulated DC-DC Converter For Railway & Other Extreme Environments Delivers 200W

October 07, 2008 by Jeff Shepard

Absopulse Electronics announced its RWR 212 series, a fully encapsulated, 200W dc-dc converter designed to meet the stringent requirements of EN 50155 for electronic equipment used on railway rolling stock; it is also well suited for operation in other extreme environments.

The RWR 212 offers high levels of isolation and has a built in voltage limiter circuit to ensure input voltage surge and transient withstand capability to meet RIA 12 (3.5Vn for 20msec). It meets EN 50121-3-2 (EMI and EMC) and EN 55022 Class B EMI performance requirements with wide margins. This converter operates from 24Vdc (14.4 – 37V), 36Vdc (22 – 55V), 48Vdc (28 – 74V), 72Vdc (42 – 110V), 96Vdc or 110Vdc (57 – 168V) supply voltages and uses push-pull topology to deliver 12, 24, 36, and 48Vdc.

Housed in a compact 3.7 x 2.4 x 9" enclosure, this converter is potted in a thermally conductive MIL-spec silicon rubber compound to ensure immunity to shock, vibration, humidity and moisture. It meets IEC 61373 shock and vibration standards as well as those specified in RIA 13 and RIA 20. The RWR 212 is also designed for continuous operation at full specification from -40 to +70°C cold plate temperature.

The RWR 212 is priced in the range of CN$324 in quantities of 100.
