Absopulse Announces PFC65-PX Series Power Supply

Absopulse Electronics Ltd. (Carp, Ontario, Canada) announced its new PFC65-PX Series conduction-cooled power supply, which was designed for use in harsh environments where 300 W continuous operation to +80 °C (cold plate) is required. The unit features high immunity to shock, vibration, humidity, moisture and dust, and is well suited to marine, off-shore, land-based industrial, railway and military applications.

The power-factor-corrected (PFC) design employs variable frequency topology for the PFC-input stage and half-bridge topology for the output stage to deliver adjustable single outputs of 12 Vdc, 24 Vdc or 48 Vdc from its 90 Vac to 264 Vac (47 Hz to 420 Hz) universal input. The power factor is corrected to a minimum of 0.97 at full load for the entire input range. A built-in redundancy diode allows for parallel-connection to achieve higher output power or N+1 redundancy. This feature also makes the unit suitable for battery-charging applications.

The PFC65-PX is fully protected electronically against over-current and short-circuit conditions. A built-in, self-resetting 110 °C thermostat allows for safe operation for limited duration at temperatures as high as 95 °C (cold plate).

The supply meets EN6100-3-2 requirements for low-input, harmonic distortion mandated for European markets. It is filtered on the input and output to meet EN55022 Class A EMI as a minimum, with a Class B option available. The unit is designed to meet international safety approvals, including IEC950 and UL60950. The PFC65-PX basic model is priced at $495 in quantities of one to four.
