Absopulse Announces New Rugged Sine-wave Inverter for Harsh Environments

November 16, 2006 by Jeff Shepard

Absopulse Electronics Ltd. announced the CSI 5K, a rugged sine-wave inverter that delivers 5000VA output power from a single 24, 36, 48, 125 or 250Vdc input. It provides sinusoidal output voltage of 115Vac continuous at 60Hz or 400Hz, or 230Vac continuous at 50Hz. The output is fully isolated from the input and is typically used in grounded neutral operation with an isolated floating output option available.

This 5kVA inverter is housed in either a 6U x 19" x 18" chassis or two stacked 3U x 19" x 18" chassis, depending upon customer requirements. It is fan cooled and rated for full specification at 0 to 50°C, with extended temperature ranges available. The CSI 5K is fully protected; built-in protection circuits include inrush current limiting, reverse polarity protection, output current limiting with short circuit protection, and thermal shut-down with automatic recovery in case of insufficient airflow. It is filtered to meet EN55022 Class A EMI as a minimum. It is also designed to meet international safety standards including EN60950 and related UL and CSA requirements.

Additional ruggedizing and conformal coating are available for applications requiring immunity to high levels of shock, vibration, humidity, moisture and airborne contaminants. Remote inhibit, an output fail alarm (Form C), custom input/output voltages, EN55022 Class B as well as a programmable soft-start feature are also available as options.

The CSI 5K is priced at US$5,000 at quantities of 100.
