30W / 60W DC-DC Converters for Railway Systems

Mean Well has unveiled the RSD-30/60 series dc-dc converters. Featuring a 4:1 input range and 4000Vdc input/output isolation, RSD-30/60 series are rated for 30W and 60W, respectively, and are characterized by 5G anti-vibration ability, working temperature range of -40 to +70 degrees C, and 1U low-profile (25mm).

In addition, they are equipped with built-in constant current limiting circuit and protections for overload, short circuit, output over voltage and input reverse polarity. The design of RSD-30/60 complies with ITE standards (IEC60950-1 and EN55032) and railway certificates (EN50155, EN45545-2 and IEC60571), so that they are suitable for all kinds of vehicle applications including railway, subway, metro rapid transit system, bus, leisure trailer, vessel, and so on.

The RSD-30/60 series delivers efficiency up to 93% and are semi-encapsulated for protection of PCB, providing the basic ability of anti-moisture, anti-dust, anti-vibration and heat dissipation. Therefore, they can be cooled without any forced-air cooling equipment but still able to work at ambient temperatures up to 70 degrees C, which fits in with the applications in harsh environment such as high temperature, dust, and moisture.

Additional features and specifications of the RSD-30/60 series include: choice of three 4:1 input ranges including 9- to 36-Vdc, 18- to 72-Vdc or 40- to 160-Vdc; LED power indicator; CE approval; dimensions of 113×60×25mm for the RSD-30 and 128×60×25mm for the RSD-60; and these dc-dc converters carry a 3-year warranty.
