10W Isolated DC-DCs with 4:1 Inputs for Industrial Systems

May 10, 2019 by Scott McMahan

Artesyn Embedded Technologies added to its range of low power output industrial dc-dc converters with the launch of the ATA series 10-watt isolated dc-dc converters, comprising 14 variants.

The converters target a diverse range of applications including instrumentation, data communication, telecommunication and computer peripheral equipment, industrial automation, and mobile battery-powered systems. The compact form factor of the ATA series minimizes occupied board space and gives it very high power density.

All ATA series converters feature wide 4:1 inputs. Seven of the models have 9V to 36V inputs, and the other seven have 18V to 75V inputs. Within each of these two categories, Artesyn offers a choice of five single output models with voltages of 3.3V, 5V, 12V, 15V, or 24V, and two dual-output models that provide +/-12V or +/-15V.

Fully encapsulated in a compact 0.94in x 0.54in (24mm x 13.7mm) shielded metal case, the converters have a height of 0.32in (8mm). They can accommodate an ambient operating temperature range of -40˚C to 80˚C with suitable derating.

With up to 80% conversion efficiency, they use 350kHz fixed frequency switching to minimize the need for external EMI filtering.

The dc-dc converters comply with the EN 55022 class A and FCC level A standards for conducted noise. With 1,500Vdc input/output isolation, they provide remote on/off and continuous (hiccup mode) protection against output short-circuit.
