10A Smart Load Switch claims Best-in-Class RDS(ON)-to-Footprint Ratio

June 29, 2014 by Jeff Shepard

Alpha and Omega Semiconductor Limited (AOS) today announced the release of the AOZ1334, a single-channel EZPower™ Smart Load Switch. The device features an ultra-low on-resistance of 3.9mΩ (VIN = 1.05V, VBIAS = 5V, TA = 85 degrees C), and delivers up to 10A of continuous current in a thermally enhanced 3mm x 3mm DFN package. The AOZ1334 offers high efficiency in a compact size, and is a suited for a variety of space-constrained applications such as tablets, notebook computers, set-top-boxes, solid-state drives, networking equipment, LCD TVs, and other consumer electronics applications.

The AOZ1334 includes an n-channel MOSFET that can provide 10A of current with a 3.2V to 5.5V bias supply, and operates down to 0.8V. The MOSFET turn-on time is controlled by a low voltage control signal through the ON pin. Additionally, an internal 220Ω load discharge resistor is integrated to allow quick discharging of capacitive output loads.

“With its ultra-low on-resistance and high current capability, the AOZ1334 offers industry-leading performance, making it a great solution for applications that require compact and efficient load switching.” said Daniel Chang, Vice President of the Power IC Product Line at AOS. “It simplifies designs by including features such as slew rate control and load discharge, which eliminates input supply glitches and other noise.”

The AOZ1334 is immediately available in production quantities with a lead-time of 12 weeks. The unit price of 1,000 pieces is $0.66.
