May 24, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

United Solar Ovonic Corp. (Uni-Solar Ovonic, Auburn Hills, MI), a wholly owned subsidiary of Energy Conversion Devices Inc. (ECD, Rochester Hills, MI), announced the shipment of 500 kW of its flexible, thin-film, solar products to Solar Integrated Technologies (SIT, Los Angeles, CA), a manufacturer of integrated, flexible, photovoltaic roofing systems for commercial and industrial buildings. The shipment is part of the first 2.4 MW order placed by SIT since it signed an expanded strategic supply agreement with Uni-Solar Ovonic in April 2004. Under the terms of the agreement, SIT is expected to purchase more than 5 MW of the Uni-Solar products in 2004 to address its rapidly expanding customer base.

Uni-Solar Ovonics Chairman and CEO and ECD President and CTO Stan Ovshinsky said, "We are very pleased with the growth at United Solar Ovonic and the worldwide recognition of our solar products. Our robust and flexible thin-film solar cells are ideally suited for building integrated photovoltaics, and we are delighted to work with SIT to address this market."
