Stuart Energy Systems Corp. (Mississauga, ON) and Hamilton Sundstrand Space Systems International Inc. (Windsor Locks, CT), a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. (South Windsor, CT), announced an alliance to develop and market integrated hydrogen-generation products for vehicles, power generation and industrial uses.

Under the terms of the agreement, Hamilton Sundstrand will be the preferred supplier of proton-exchange membrane (PEM)-based electrolyser technology. Stuart Energy will be the preferred supplier for the integration of the PEM electrolyser into hydrogen-generation products. The systems will focus on providing cost-competitive products for near-term markets for hydrogen infrastructure.

"Hamilton Sundstrand has more than 150 million cell hours of experience with PEM electrolysers," said Larry McNamara, general manager of the company's Space Systems International enterprise. "We believe that Stuart Energy is an ideal partner in helping us address the evolving hydrogen economy, and that our joint team will be well-positioned to address emerging markets for transportation and power generation."
