Solid Energy Begins Lithium-Polymer Production

Solid Energy GmbH (Itzehoe, Germany), a producer of lithium-polymer rechargeable batteries based on technology developed by Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft (Germany), announced that it has begun production and distribution of lithium-polymer secondary batteries based on solid-state conductors at its newly established manufacturing building in Itzehoe.

Solid Energy plans to start production after delivery of the manufacturing devices in fall of 2002. The company plans on the technical advantages of the solid-state, lithium-polymer accumulators to provide quick company growth. The company anticipates that the number of employees will raise from 5 to 25 by the end of this year and will increase up to 50 by the end of 2003.
