Shanghai Power Launches Wind Power Generation Project

Shanghai Power Co. (China) announced the launch of a 20,000kW power generation project. Construction will require approximately one year for Shanghai's first wind power project and investment in the project is expected to total RMB192 million (US$23 million), which will be jointly funded by Shanghai Power and its parent company, State Power Corp.

The first phase of the project will involve installation of 20,000kW of generating capacity with a unit capacity over 600kW. The Dongwangsha area on the city's eastern Chongming Island and the bank of the Dazhi River in Nanhui County in the southwest of the city have been chosen as the sites for the project.
