Rickbery to Install Li-Ion Battery Production Equipment

May 21, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Rickbery Ind. Ltd. (Hong Kong) announced that it will install additional machines by the middle of this year to manufacture 3.6mm lithium-ion rechargeable batteries. The company aims to move toward higher capacities in smaller pack sizes. The company's current smallest lithium-ion battery has a thickness of only 4mm and a full capacity of 550mAh.

According to Ringo Yip, Rickbery sales manager, the demand for lithium-ion batteries increased by about 30 percent during the last 12 months as a result of growth in mobile phones. The company expects further price reductions this year, but the adjustment will be less than 10 percent compared to last year's 15 to 20 percent.
