Powervation Appoints VP Of Engineering

Powervation named Sean Foley, Ph.D. as Vice President of Engineering. Foley joins Powervation from Cypress Semiconductor where he served as Design Engineering Director. He will operate from the company’s new design center in Cork, Ireland where he will lead the engineering organization in implementing Powervation’s technology roadmap.

"Sean joins Powervation at a pivotal time," said Chief Executive Officer, Antoin Russell. "Having recently introduced our technology to select customers, we’re now ramping toward production. Sean’s engineering expertise and his close ties to Cork’s world-class research community make him an outstanding executive to drive our product development initiatives and manage our growing engineering organization. We’re pleased to welcome him to the team."

Dr. Foley spent nine years at Cypress Semiconductor. Under his leadership at the company’s design center in Cork several successful mixed-signal products were developed. Before Cypress, he spent six years as a research scientist at the National Microelectronics Research Center (NMRC) in Cork (now known as Tyndall National Institute.

Dr. Foley holds three U.S. patents with two more pending, and has authored more than 25 journal and conference publications. He is the 2008 chairman of Ireland’s Microelectronics Industry Design Association (MIDAS).
