Panasonic Announces New AA Battery Technology

March 03, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Panasonic (Secaucus, NJ), a division of Matsushita (Japan) has developed a new disposable AA battery based on nickel-zinc technology that the company claims will last longer than a typical alkaline battery.

According to Panasonic, the new battery should allow for an average of 50 more shots than with comparable batteries aimed at digital cameras, including the Duracell M3 and the Energizer E2 battery.

Panasonic reported that the new batteries will start shipping to retailers in May of 2002.
