O2Micro Receives Power Management Unit Patent

O2Micro International Ltd. (Santa Clara, CA), a supplier of power management and security ICs to mobile computer and communications manufacturers, was granted 71 claims under US patent number 6,507,173 for its single-chip power management unit (PMU) apparatus and method. Intended for cellular phones, PDAs, and other portable wireless-enabled appliances and adapters, the new PMU architecture achieves a high level of analog and digital integration. Integrated logic offloads much of the power management overhead from the system and ensures power integrity under severe conditions.
