O2Micro Granted Battery-Charging Patent Continuation

May 03, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

O2Micro International Ltd. (George Town, Grand Cayman), a supplier of power management and security ICs to mobile computer and communications manufacturers, was granted 14 claims under United States patent number 6,861,823 for its high-accuracy voltage-mode battery-charging invention; a continuation of the invention issued August 2003 under United States patent number 6,611,129. The patented battery-charging IC architecture regulates the charging cycle to provide accurate charging and charge termination, and offers a high-charge accuracy, simplified loop compensation and a low parts count.

"This significant patent continuation allows O2Micro to expand the charger family benefits for solutions built on this core architecture," remarked O2Micro Intelligent Power Unit Vice President Alex Hartular.
