October 08, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

NESSCAP Co. Ltd. (Suwon, Kyonggi-do, Korea) announced that its 2.7V ultracapacitors are suitable for future 42V automotive power systems. In recent simulation tests, the NESSCAP 42V ultracapacitors, composed of 2.7V-3,500F cells, demonstrated ample available energy and acceleration, with enough available energy for 42V systems that have 6kW of output power, and acceleration and regenerating times of 20 seconds.

"Our new ultracapacitors have proved to be a significant storage device for 42V systems. The NESSCAP ultracapacitors have approximately 10 times the power density of a same-sized battery and the capability of being charged and discharged over 100 times faster than a battery," stated Young Ho Kim, vice president of engineering.
