NEC Xiamen to Mass-Produce Batteries

NEC Tokin Electronics Corp. (China) announced that it will enter into mass production in July 2002 to meet increasing demands for its lithium-ion rechargeable batteries used in digital camera, digital camcorder and mobile phone applications. The company expects monthly capacity to reach 30-million units by the end of 2002, followed by an additional five-million units in the first half of 2003.
