Microsemi Corp. Sells Business Unit

Micrsosemi Corp. (Santa Ana, CA) has sold the operations of its Microsemi Commercial Components (MCC) business unit and certain assets as part of its program to exit lower margin business.The MCC business unit had sales of $7.3 million to external customers in the last six months. The assets were sold at book value and the disposition will not result in any gain or charge to earnings. In the past year, MCC did not materially effect on the company's earnings.The MCC business unit sells commodity commercial products and was an early part of Microsemi's strategy to transform itself from a military/aerospace semiconductor manufacturer to a commercial components supplier. Since then, the company has entered several system engineered power management and RF/microwave commercial markets.
