LTC Receives Favorable Initial Test Results From NASA for Li-Ion Polymer Cells

August 26, 1999 by Jeff Shepard

Lithium Technology Corp. (LTC, Plymouth Meeting, PA) announced that it has received favorable initial test results from NASA Glenn Research Center (Cleveland, OH) on the company's 8.5Ah lithium-ion polymer cells. LTC had shipped 20 of the large (4" x 8" x 1/4") cells to NASA Glenn in March. After four months of storage at the facility, 17 of 19 cells passed preliminary tests. According to LTC, one cell was excluded because of a broken tab, and the two cells which narrowly missed passing would still be functional from an end user's standpoint in a portable electronics applications.
