Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL, Livermore, CA) is seeking industry partnerships to develop and commercialize Direct Carbon Conversion Fuel Cells (DCCFC). LLNL scientists have developed a configuration for a carbon/air fuel cell that consumes particles of carbon and oxygen in a molten-salt electrolyte and produces electric power at practical rates at an efficiency of 80 percent based on the heat of combustion of carbon.

Companies interested in this solicitation should provide a written statement of interest and a description of corporate capabilities relevant to commercializing the technology. Deadline for responses is August 18, 2002.
