JSC ESMA Designs Electric Trucks and Buses

April 07, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

JSC ESMA (Troitsk, Russia) announced that under an award by the Moscow government, it has designed and built a line of electric trucks and buses for service within parks and exhibition areas. The design of these vehicles is original and ESMA electrochemical capacitors are the only power source used within the vehicles.

The electrochemical capacitor (EC) banks have the required power and energy to compensate for voltage fluctuations during peak loads or grid power failures up to 5 to 10 seconds in crucial power supply systems. The capacitor banks are maintenance free, and have a long service life, high reliability and safety. The EC banks may also be used as emergency power supply sources in case of grid power supply failure. The use of ECs also allows a significant reduction in size and weight of the power source, especially useful for mobile systems.
