New Leadership and What This Means for II-VI
Sohail Khan’s expertise spans both business and academic positions that have provided a firm understanding of semiconductor and optoelectronics technologies that remain the center of II-VI’s business. Khan’s academic background has seen him achieve an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley, and a BSEE from the University of Engineering, Lahore. In the world of business, Khan spent two years as Managing Partner for K5 Innovations prior to coming to II-VI. Before this, Khan held a number of other positions including CEO for ViXS Systems, a ultra-high definition (UHD) video solutions semiconductor company; CEO of Lilliputian Systems, a fuel-cell company; CEO of SiGe Semiconductor and EVP of the Infrastructure Group at Agere Systems; and President of the integrated circuit (IC) Division of Lucent Microelectronics.
In a recent news release Dr. Vincent D. Mattera, Jr., CEO of II-VI, provided his views on Sohail Khan joining the II-VI family: “Sohail Khan has my utmost respect as an integrated circuits and optoelectronics technologist, a visionary, and an accomplished business leader.” Mattera continues to add that when “... guided by Sohail’s leadership and the benefits of our platforms built by our innovations of the last 20 years, we will continue to invest in efficient energy-conversion technology to lead in one of the most exciting markets of our century.”
