Fujitsu and Ambiq Partner on Ultra-Low-Power MCUs

January 22, 2017 by Jeff Shepard

Fujitsu Electronics Europe (FEEU) is bringing Ambiq Micro's Apollo 2 Platform to the European market. The new ultra-low-power MCU offers breakthrough power consumption of around 10µA/MHz, allowing wearables and IoT devices to experience double the battery life compared to the current generation of products. As the exclusive distributor of these products in Europe, FEEU offers customers both technical support and expertise on the challenges of low-power environments. General availability is planned for the second half of 2017.

Announced last month, the Ambiq Micro Apollo 2 Wearables and IoT Platform provides dramatic reductions in energy consumption through its patented Subthreshold Power Optimized Technology (SPOT™) technology. The product technical specifications include: Effective active current of <10𝜇A/MHz; Effective performance of 48MHz; Flash/RAM size 1MB/256kB; Peripherals include I2C, SPI, 14-bit ADC, PDM; two package options, 64-pin, 4.5 x 4.5mm BGA with 50 GPIO and 49-pin, 2.5 x 2.5mm WLCSP with 34 GPIO.

“Our goal is to accelerate our customer’s innovation process by providing them with best-in-class products from all around the world”, says Axel Tripkewitz, president and managing director of FEEU. “Ambiq Micro’s Apollo 2 Platform will be another important cornerstone in our line card portfolio, helping our customers to build wearables and IoT devices with maximised performance and minimised power consumption.”
