This award is given annually to small firms, projects, organizations or individuals judged to exemplify the best in Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR).Under a SBIR program supported by the US Dept. of Energy, FCE developed an approach to increase the strength of the matrix, a critical fuel cell component, by a factor of ten while reducing its cost by more than 50 percent.
