April 17, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

FuelCell Energy Inc. (FCE, Danbury, CT) and its partner, PPL Energy Plus, a subsidiary of PPL Corp. (Allentown, PA), announced that they are providing two Direct FuelCell (DFC) power plants for installation at New Jersey hotels owned by Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide Inc., one of the largest hotel operators of the world.

PPL and Starwood Hotels have signed an agreement to install, own and operate one 250kW DFC fuel cell power plant at the Sheraton Parsippany Hotel and another at the Sheraton Edison Raritan Center. Groundbreaking for both projects is scheduled to begin this summer, with the fuel cell power plants coming on line by the end of the calendar year.

"These siting announcements demonstrate that our distribution partner, PPL Energy Plus, and their customer, Starwood Hotels, are leaders in providing clean, efficient and reliable solutions for their energy needs," said Jerry Leitman, president and CEO of FuelCell Energy.
