Electric Fuel to Develop Zinc-Air Batteries for UAVs

Electric Fuel Corp. (New York) announced that it has received a request from the Israeli Security Agency to develop advanced prototype zinc-air batteries that can maintain high power densities for extended periods of time for miniature aerial platforms. Electric Fuel recently announced a contract for unmanned air vehicle (UAV) battery development featuring its zinc-air cells, which have a specific energy of 400Wh/kg.

Electric Fuel President and CEO Yehuda Harats said, "This development contract is an important expression of confidence in our technology and in our ability to meet the development goals. It also helps us toward our goal of becoming a leading provider of power solutions for the rapidly growing unmanned platform sector and continues the implementation of our overall strategy of expansion in the defense and security industry."
