Cherokee International Set to Open China Facility

January 10, 2006 by Jeff Shepard

Cherokee International has completed the first prototype production at its new 120,000 square foot facility in Shanghai, China. The first customer visit is scheduled for the end of this month with full operational status expected by March.

For safety agency approvals, the facility has already received TUV certification and completed its UL audit. The CSA audit is currently being conducted with an ISO audit to follow in the next week.

"With some certifications already granted and the first prototype already off of the production lines, the Shanghai facility is proving its leading-edge manufacturing capabilities," said Jeff Frank, president and CEO of Cherokee International. "A highly skilled management and operational staff is already on board in China, and we are excited about our grand opening in February 2006. We plan to have the facility fully operational by March 2006."

The facility allows Cherokee International to better serve its Asian-based customers with localized production and cost-effective operations.
