Catalytica Releases Next-Generation Catalyst

May 28, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Catalytica Energy Systems Inc. (Mountain View, CA) announced the validation and release of a next-generation catalyst based on advanced materials and processing that will become the foundation for development of extended-life systems. The new material technology, which is now being integrated into the company's Xonon Cool Combustion™ product line for gas turbine applications, also provides for a simplified manufacturing process.

"We now have a design in place that not only offers production advantages by streamlining our manufacturing steps but also enables us to pursue development of a longer-life catalyst," said Mike Murry, president and CEO of Catalytica Energy Systems. "Our gas turbine OEM partners have expressed an interest in longer component lives. Today's announcement is a key first step toward that goal and a reflection of our ongoing commitment to refining our catalyst technology platform to further enhance our product line and provide the highest level of customer satisfaction. We believe the advanced materials that we've deployed in this next-generation design will allow us to extend catalyst activity well beyond our current 8,000-hour product through further refinements that are currently underway."
