ARISE Technologies Signs Agreement with Day4 Energy

October 24, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

ARISE Technologies Corp. (Kitchener, Ontario Canada), a developer of solar photovoltaic (PV) technologies, announced that Day4 Energy Inc. has signed a letter of intent to purchase 5 MW of ARISE PV cells targeted for production in 2007. The cells will be used in Day4’s new series of PV modules. Terms of a definitive supply agreement will be determined closer to shipment of the product. ARISE Technologies, in collaboration with the University of Toronto, is developing high-efficiency, low-cost PV cells for the global PV market. The solar cells are produced using the company's patented DC Saddle-Field thin-film technology that permits the production of high-quality films on large areas allowing the production of thin-film on silicon-hybrid PV cells.

ARISE CEO Ian MacLellan stated, “We are very pleased to be working in collaboration with Day4 to help them bring their PV modules to market. This is a great validation of our high-efficiency PV cells, which will help increase the power output of Day4’s power generation products. We look forward to helping them reach their goal of making PV power generation cost competitive with conventional fossil fuel-based power generation technologies.”

Day4 Chairman and CEO John MacDonald stated, “We are pleased to welcome ARISE as a strategic supplier of PV Cells to Day4. Products based on ARISE’s high-efficiency cells will be very complimentary to our existing power generation products, and together will create a very real possibility of revolutionizing the world’s power generation industry by making PV a mainstream power generation technology."
