December 14, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

APW Ltd. (Waukesha, WI) announced that is has opened a new power supplies manufacturing facility in Shanghai, China. The management team and a work force of approximately 40 people are already in place.

APW believes that the Shanghai location is favorable, as APW has an existing enclosure manufacturing facility in Shanghai and there exists an available well-educated local workforce to support expansion opportunities.

In light of the rapid overall growth China is experiencing, APW will initially focus on supplying intra-China demand with future plans that include export sales to other Asian and global markets.

Richard G. Sim, chairman and CEO of APW, commented, “This initiative reflects APW's commitment to be close to our key global partners around the world. In this case, we are expanding our power supplies capacity in China to support Motorola and their emerging requirements."
