June 10, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Acumentrics Corp. (Westwood, MA) announced that it was awarded US patent 6,358,640 entitled, Fuel Cell Power Generating System. The patent is for a micro-tubular, solid-oxide fuel cell stack with integrated hydrocarbon fuel reformation. The patent details how Acumentrics' tubular fuel cell stack operates directly from existing infrastructure fuels such as natural gas or propane.

"Acumentrics is committed to the early commercialization of solid-oxide fuel cell technology. The acquisition of this patent, along with the patented and proprietary technology developed in-house at Acumentrics, demonstrates our strong intellectual property position in tubular solid-oxide fuel cells. Acumentrics' technology delivers the benefits of a hydrogen economy without the need for building a hydrogen infrastructure," said Warren Ziegler, vice president of technology for Acumentrics.
