Yageo Launches Automotive Grade Thick Film Chip Resistor

November 17, 2010 by Jeff Shepard

Yageo has recently introduced the automotive grade thick film chip resistor, the AC series. This product conforms to the automotive electronics industry requirements, and is mainly applicable to heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC) system, infotainment, navigation system, lighting, and power window system, etc. Compared to other applications, the automotive industry imposes more strict requirements in all aspects. The company states that the AC series fully meets customers’ requirements and demonstrates its commitment to enter the automotive market.

The AC series is based on Yageo’ thick film mass production expertise, with the existing manufacturing process further refined. It is optimized to conform to the strict automotive industry standard, offering superior performance on moisture resistance and electrostatic discharge. These high standard characteristics allow Yageo’s AC series to be applied to majority of the automotive electronic systems.

Other than the AEC-Q200 standard, Yageo AC series resistor also boasts anti-sulfuration and undergoes automatic optical inspection (AOI), thus provide an even more comprehensive quality guarantee. At present the automotive segment revenue only accounts for a small portion of Yageo business, however the AC series is expected to contribute to its revenue next year, and will become one of the potential growth engines.
