XPiQ Presents KDQ030 Series Power Supplies

March 31, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

XPiQ Inc. (Holliston, MA) introduced the new KDQ030 Series of dc/dc quarter-brick converters, available with dual outputs, which features two low-voltage, 15A channels offering dual-output combinations from 1.2V to 5V for a combined output total of 30A. The special output feature allows the converters to be utilized for a variety of applications where there is a need for different low voltages with high-current output combinations.

The KDQ030 Series allows for a combined 30A of output current in a quarter-brick footprint as compared to the industry-standard 15A combined. The units accept an input-voltage range from 36Vdc to 75Vdc (48V nominal). Full power is available up to 55°C with only a 200 LFM airflow required. The KDQ030 Series provides a high power output of 100W, with a high efficiency of 88 percent for the 3.3V and 5V model, which helps the converters operate at ambient temperatures of up to +85°C with sufficient airflow and derating.

Standard features for the series include two million hours demonstrated mean time between failure, no minimum load requirements, ±10 percent output trim, a low profile of 0.417in and an industry-standard footprint available in both open-frame and baseplate versions. Additional features include remote on/off with positive or negative logic, over-temperature shutdown, and over-voltage and over-current with auto-restart protection. The series has international safety agency approvals and carries the CE mark (LVD).

Pricing for the KDQ030 Series is $77 for 1,000 pieces. The converters are currently in stock for small quantities with production volume available in six weeks ARO.
