Vishay Releases New WSE0805 Resistor

January 15, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Vishay Intertechnology Inc. (Malvern, PA) announced the release of a new 0.25W, surface-mount, Power Metal Strip® resistor with a power rating that matches that of larger 1206 size resistors while offering superior overload and pulse-handling capability. Typical applications for the WSE0805 resistor include voltage amplifier circuits, precision voltage divider circuits, and high-frequency circuits in telecommunications, automotive, industrial instrumentation, consumer electronics, and computing systems.

The new WSE0805 resistor combines a 0.25W rating and a resistance range of 10 ohms to 10,000 ohms in the small 0805 package, which measures 0.080in x 0.050in x 0.025in (2.30mm x 1.27mm x 0.64mm). The new resistor features a low TCR of 15ppm/°C, a resistance range from 10 ohms to 10,000 ohms, and tight tolerance down to 0.1%, as well as low noise of <-40dB, low inductance of <0.08µH, and a voltage coefficient of <0.00001%/V (<0.1ppm/V). It is rated for an operating temperature range of -65°C to +150°C and provides resistance to thermal shock, moisture and high-temperature bonding exposure.

Available in tape-and-reel packaging, samples and production quantities of the new WSE0805 Power Metal Strip resistors are available now, with a lead time of six to eight weeks for larger orders. Pricing for US delivery is $0.20 per piece.
