Vishay Extends SMD MLCCs for High-Temperature Applications and Higher 100V Ratings

New Products Jun 18, 2013 by Jeff Shepard

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. has extended its VJ X8R series of surface-mount multilayer ceramic chip capacitors (SMD MLCCs) for high-temperature applications. To save board space in high-temperature oil exploration and industrial applications, Vishay’s VJ X8R series of surface-mount MLCCs is now offered in the 0402 case size. For increased reliability, devices in the 0603 and 0805 case sizes now provide higher voltages of 100 V. The VJ X8R series is available with conductive epoxy assembly termination for hybrid applications.

Features of the enhanced VJ X8R SMD MLCCs include: New 0402 case size saves board space; Higher voltage of 100 V for 0603 and 0805 case sizes increases reliability; Operating temperature to +150 °C; Available with a conductive epoxy assembly termination (termination code “E”) for hybrid applications; Wide capacitance range of 470 pF to 390 nF; Temperature coefficient of capacitance (TCC) of ± 15% over the temperature range of -55 °C to +150 °C; Optimized for high-temperature applications in harsh environments; Manufactured in Noble Metal Electrode Technology (NME) with a wet build process; and RoHS compliant, halogen free, and conform to Vishay “Green” standards.

Samples and production quantities of the capacitors are available now, with lead times from 12 to 14 weeks.
