Vishay Adds to 592D Family of Tantalum Capacitors

November 10, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Vishay Intertechnology Inc. (Malvern, PA) announced the release of two new devices in the 592D family of solid tantalum chip capacitors. Part of the Vishay Sprague Tantamount® product line, the new capacitors are designed for low-profile applications, such as wireless GPRS PCMCIA modem cards and cellular phones, requiring very high capacitance.

The 592D capacitors are available in X and Y cases with dimensions of 0.570in x 0.290in (14.5mm x 7.37mm) and height profiles of 0.079in (2.0mm) and 0.098in (2.5mm), respectively. The 592D228X_6R3X2_ in the X case features capacitance of 2,200µF and a maximum current leakage of 139µA. In the Y case size, the 592D338X_6R3Y2_ offers a capacitance value of 3,300µF and maximum current leakage of 208µA.

At 6.3Vdc, both devices offer a maximum dissipation factor of 35%, a low ESR of 0.055 Ohm, and ripple of 1.80A during operation at +25°C and 100kHz. Capacitance tolerances of ±10% and ±20% are standard. The devices are specified for an operating temperature range of -55°C to +85°C.

Samples and production quantities of the new 592D228X_6R3X2_ and 592D338X_6R3Y2_ capacitors are available now in tape-and-reel packaging, with lead times of seven weeks for larger orders. Pricing for US delivery starts at $2.45 for the X case and $3.30 for the Y case.
