Unipower High-Capacity Inverter/Charger Provides Long Term UPS Capability

August 08, 2011 by Jeff Shepard

Unipower announced its INVO Series Inverter/Charger System. The INVO Series is different from the company’s other products in that it is a 5kVA inverter with a built-in charger; giving customers the ability to design their own "long-run UPS" by specifying the battery capacity to be used.

The INVO Inverter/Charger is well suited for installations that require a fully integrated system which can easily connect to the utility provided power and a customer selected battery bank; immediately creating what the company says is a reliable, expandable and cost-effective UPS system.

System features include front-panel programming and display; 90% minimum efficiency; fast 10mS transfer time; 3-stage battery charger; 10kVA peak load. Charger Power factor is greater than 0.95.

INVO’s inverter section is rated at 5000VA or 4200W at 220, 230 or 240Vac output, programmable from the front panel. The input voltage is 180-270Vac and can also be programmed from the front panel. The system can operate from generator provided power by programming from the front panel, down to 100Vac at start-up. The charger section is rated at 20A/35A for 48Vdc battery voltage and 10A/15A for 96Vdc battery voltage. The battery voltage can be 48 or 96V, depending on customer preference and model selected.

Using a typical 100AH battery, INVO will maintain the full load for 45 minutes and the 30A charger will replenish the battery in less than four hours. INVO is ideally suited in small office or retail environment where a small number of PCs and other critical loads need to kept operational.

INVO is priced at $934.00 in quantities of ten to twenty-five units.
