Tyco Electronics Power Systems (Dallas, TX) announced the availability of its GALAXY Gateway remote monitoring software, which is designed to meet power plant engineering, operations and maintenance needs. The GALAXY Gateway enhances remote surveillance capabilities by providing real-time plant status and alarms, remote configuration and control, and global access through Netscape Navigator and Internet Explorer.

The GALAXY Gateway provides different levels of access to multiple users, and is compatible with Tyco's Millennium, Vector and SC controllers. The software communicates with each network by TCP/IP, Internet protocol. GALAXY Gateway’s software applications include a web server supporting HTTP, a command line interface via a Telnet connection to the power system, a file server supporting FTP for remote software upgrades, and network management clients supporting SNMP and TL1.

"The GALAXY Gateway software furthers Tyco Electronics’ commitment to superior and reliable telecommunications power solutions," said Roger Stonecipher, senior product manager for Tyco Electronics Power Systems. "The latest version offers service providers an entirely new level of control over its power plants. Users will know the moment trouble occurs in its network, the nature of the problem and can then immediately decide how to resolve the issue."

The GALAXY Gateway v3 is immediately available. Pricing starts at $999 for a single card, and $749 in volume pricing for 20 or more.
