Tyco Electronics Announces PIM200 Power Input Modules
Tyco Electronics Power Systems Inc. (Dallas, TX) announced its new PIM200 power input modules, designed to comply with the Advanced Telecom Computing Architecture (AdvancedTCA) specifications, which provide telecom equipment manufacturers with a complete power solution for AdvancedTCA boards. As a packaged solution, the standard, off-the-shelf modules reduce product time to market and also reduce product complexity as a "one-stop shop" for managing all functions required by AdvancedTCA standards.
The new PIM modules are rated for 200 W of maximum output power with a wide input-voltage range of -38 Vdc to -75 Vdc, suitable for both -48 Vdc and -60 Vdc power distribution. The PIM modules incorporate all of the power management features required by the AdvancedTCA PICMG 3.0 specification. In addition, the PIM200 modules provide a charging current at 72 Vdc for external holdup/energy storage bulk capacitors to reduce real estate on telecom boards.
Sized at 2.78 in x 1.45 in x 0.5 in (70.6 mm x 36.8 mm x 12.7 mm), the modules have a high efficiency of 97% at -48 Vdc. When combined with Tyco's isolated dc-dc and bus converters and point-of-load modules, the PIM200 modules provide powering solutions while complying with AdvancedTCA board power requirements.
The PIM200 modules are priced at $41.20 for 1,000-unit quantities. Samples are available now.
