Tyco Announces NEBS Certified Alphatran Inverter

May 27, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Tyco Electronics Power Systems Inc. (Dallas, TX) announced the addition of the Network Equipment Building System (NEBS) certified Alphatran inverter system to its portfolio of telecom power systems. NEBS is the highest level of certification reserved for ultra-critical telecommunications equipment and the industry benchmark for quality and reliability.

The Alphatran inverter uses 3.5kVA modules capable of an N+1 redundant configuration, and is scalable from 3.5kVA to 21kVA. With an input voltage of -48Vdc, output frequency of 50Hz or 60Hz, and an output range of 100Vac to 240Vac, the inverter modules are packaged into a hot-swap receiver cabinet, allowing rapid and safe exchange of any component without interruption to the critical load.

The Alphatran inverter system meets additional regulatory qualifications, including UL, CSA, CE, European Standard EN60950, TUV and FCC Class A certified. Modules are available now and start at $9,446 for a 3.5kVA system.
