TRUMPower Releases Medically Approved ATX PC Power Supply With Output Of 500W

September 18, 2008 by Jeff Shepard

Tumbler Technologies + TRUMPower announced the TMPC-500, which is said to be the first medically approved 500W ATX PC power supply available in its industry. The TMPC-500 is described as a unique higher power source that is an addition to the line-up of medical grade power supplies which the company has had on the market. With its 90-265Vac universal input and active PFC, the power supply can be used worldwide without the necessity of changing input settings.

The TMPC-500 is approved to UL 60601-1, IEC 60601-1, and EN 60601-1 medical standards and complies with EN 61000-3-2, EN 60601-1-2, EN 55011 EMI standards. It has an MTBF > 200,000 hours @ 25°C. In addition to the typical earth leakage current of 90µA @ 115Vac or 150µA @ 230Vac, there is a < 90µA @ 264Vac low leakage version of the power supply available.

The unit complies with ATX12V and EPS12V standards. It comes with dc voltage outputs and maximum loads of +3.3V/30A, +5V/30A, dual +12V/17A, -12V/0.8A, +5Vsb/2A, -5V/0.3A respectively. The maximum total output is 500W, with the combined output of +3.3 and +5V limited to 200W, and +3.3/+5/+12V offering a maximum power of 480W. The power supply includes a standard output cable set that can meet the requirements of most applications. But any other requirements of the cable set can be fulfilled as well.

The TMPC-500 has a built-in, thermally controlled ball-bearing fan with noise-killer. Other key features include short circuit protection on all outputs, output over voltage protection, resettable power shutdown, low ripple and noise, and 0 - 50°C operating temperature.

The TMPC-500 is priced at $299 in OEM quantity. Units are available from stock to 8 weeks ARO.
