TDI Offers New Low-Profile Remote Power Plant

May 20, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Transistor Devices Inc. (TDI, Hackettstown, NJ) announced its new low-profile, remote power plant (LPP), which provides up to 60A of +24Vdc power, or up to 30A of –48Vdc power for wireless and access-market applications.

The LPP incorporates a complete front-access design with all hot-pluggable modules, including rectifiers, monitoring and control units, and distribution elements. All of the LPP’s modules are field-upgradeable and expandable, and have an extended operating temperature range from –40 to +60 degrees C.

The LPP is based on hot-bus pluggable, power-factor-corrected, switch-mode rectifiers. The LPP is capable of housing up to three +24V/20A rectifiers or up to three -48V/10A rectifiers with N+1 parallel redundant operation. The LPP will be Ethernet addressable as well as TCP/IP and RS232 equipped, permitting remote communications on modern networks.

Pricing for 100 pieces is $945 for the base system, $320 for the 3GR600 rectifier, and $415 for the basic monitoring and control unit.
