Taiyo Yuden Introduces New PFC-600 Modular Switch-Mode Power Supplies

March 05, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

Taiyo Yuden (USA) Inc. (San Marcos, CA), formerly Xentek Power Systems, introduced the PFC-600, a line of compact, modular switch-mode power supplies. The power supplies are rated at 600W total continuous power at operating temperatures of 0 degrees to 50 degrees C.

According to Taiyo Yuden, the unit corrects the input current waveform to better than 0.99 power factor at full load, which enables it to meet IEC1000-3-2 harmonic-distortion specifications. The unit also complies with CISPR 11/22 EMI requirements, CE low voltage and EMC directives. The PFC-600 provides four floating outputs from 2Vdc to 48Vdc.

In addition to nine main output voltages to choose from, three fully isolated auxiliary outputs may also be selected with voltages from 2.0Vdc to 35Vdc up to 48Vdc. The main output also offers 36Vdc operation. A fifth output, a sustained 5V at 0.5A, is also available as an option.

The PFC-600 open-frame switcher measures 11.0" x 5.0" x 2.5" with full cover-on and is available off-the-shelf to one week delivery. In OEM quantities, the PFC-600 is priced at $396 each.
